Baaa.
- What movie have you seen the most time in the theater? How many times?
Semi-embarassingly, I believe the answer to this question is
Jurassic Park.
I saw it many, many times in the theater with krasnayath back
when it was current
- What was the last movie you walked out of in the theater?
I almost never walk out. The last one I can remember was
Brainscan. And I didn't
walk out until the last 5 minutes. I really tried.
- What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
I have a vague memory of seeing
The Empire Strikes Back
- What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Repo Man
- Have you ever dressed up as a movie character for Halloween? If so, who?
Yes.
- What was the first R-rated movie you ever saw? Were you allowed or
did you sneak?
I honestly don't remember... I probably snuck in, though...
- Star Wars (orig. trilogy) or Lord of the Rings?
Star Wars. No contest.
- Pacino or DeNiro?
They are both caricatures of themselves at this point. Historically,
though, I'd have to lean towards DeNiro. Although it's more fun pretending
to be Pacino. Especially from
Glengarry Glen Ross.
- Titanic...did it suck or was it great?
Pretty but awful.
- What's your take on Cassavetes?
Ignorance, unfortunately.
- Favorite John Hughes character?
Ferris.
- What movie gives you a boner (or makes you tingle)?
Crash (the real
one).
- What movie always makes you cry like the big puss you are?
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
- What's the furthest you've ever gotten in a movie theater? (i.e, second base...)
- Speaking of sports metaphors, what's your favorite sports movie?
Major League
- Favorite
- ...teen movie?
Real Genius
- ...Quentin Tarantino movie?
Reservoir Dogs
- ...Bill Murray movie?
Ghostbusters
- ...romantic comedy?
Amelie
- ...gangster movie?
My Blue Heaven
- ...horror movie?
A Nightmare on Elm Street
- ...made for TV movie?
Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of
Bliss
- ...director?
David Fincher
- ...drug movie?
Fear and Loathing in Las
Vegas or
A Scanner Darkly
- What movie have you seen already but will never, ever, ever watch again?
I'm fairly certain I will never watch
Gerry
again.
- What movie are you embarrassed to really like?
The Wrong Guys
- What movie should be remade asap?
Not a fan of remakes, generally.
- What's your favorite musical?
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
- For the love of everything that's sacred, please someone stop (insert
answer) from making another movie!
Darren Aronofsky and
M. Night Shyamalan
- What movie do all your friends love but you're not that crazy about?
Pi sucks ass.
- What movie do you love but none of your friends do?
Salo. My friends are
justified.
- If you could hump/date/marry any movie character, who would it be?
Any Alicia Witt character.
- Best...movie....ever?
All of my "favorite" or "best" picks for this list are rather arbitrary,
because really I have trouble picking one... Let's say:
My Blue Heaven
- Book you wish would be made into a movie, and who would direct it?
I still hold out hope someone will let Chris Cunningham do Neuromancer. It would
either be amazing or a beautiful failure.

23-Jul-2008 (wed) http://www.dnalounge.com/backstage/log/2008/07.html#23 Photos are up of Everything Goes Cold (apparently nobody took any photos of the other three bands?), of the Zivity Batman Party, of Hubba Hubba Revue's "Jolly Olde England" show (don't miss their "Benny Hill" video!), and also of Immigrant performing at the final Pop Roxx. It was a great turnout for the last one, because everybody loves a funeral... If we could have gotten that kind of attendance regularly, it wouldn't have stopped! To commemorate the final event, we gave away a bunch of compilation CDs of most of the bands who have played at Pop Roxx over the last two and a half years. It wasn't all of the bands, because there were too many to fit on an audio CD, so we had to leave a few off. If you didn't manage to pick one up, you can still listen to it as this week's mixtape. This is the "director's cut" of that CD: it's almost the complete set of Pop Roxx bands. It is only missing tracks by three bands (Pretty Vicious, Landshark, and Sunday Drivers), because somehow I managed not to get CDs by those bands, and I wasn't able to track down MP3s in time. We had a lot of great bands at Pop Roxx! I'll miss it. Starting in September, every third Saturday will be a new party called Super Ego. Stay tuned... |

Lincvolt It doesn’t feel weird to be on TV, but it feels a little weird coding late at night while watching tv and then randomly having Neil Young appear on The Tonight Show and start talking about the project you are working on at that moment. |

Mortimer, the Birds, and My Plants - A Love Story Aaaaah, Mortimer. Mortimer is our backyard mascot. He's an uber-pudgy-fluffy groundhog. Now, most of you would think to yourselves, "Oh my gosh! They're so destructive! Get rid of that thing!" I can't. He's too cute to get rid of. He hangs out in our backyard and eats the grass and minds his business. There are bunnies that live in our backyard as well, and Mortimer is deathly afraid of them. He takes off at top-speed (which isn't too fast when you're a lumpy pudge-pot) and hides under our deck. He's also afraid of the birds that frequent our backyard as well. Two weekends ago, I decided to get a bird feeder. I put it on the top hook of my new shepherd's hook (with 3 hooks on it - one on the left, two on the right.) Turns out, Mortimer thinks he's a bird too. We have a ton of finches that are constantly at the feeder. On the two remaining hooks, I have potted hanging plants. It's quite a pretty ensemble. I came home one evening and found my lowest hanging pot of flowers on the ground, the hanger off of it, and the flowers strewn everywhere. I repotted them to the best of my ability and blamed it on the hook being too close to the deck and squirrels jumping onto the pots, knocking it off. (Yes, blame the squirrels!) I decided to move the hook to the back of the yard, away from where squirrels could get at it. It wasn't the squirrels. It was Mortimer. As I was talking to my mom on the phone on Saturday afternoon, I was looking outside at the feeder and there was Mortimer, scaling the hook, trying desperately to get to the bird seed. When the hook wasn't serving a purpose for him, he went directly to the lowest hanging potted plant. (Remember: this is the plant that is trying to recoup from its prior bad experience.) There he was, standing on his furry lil' tippy-toes, hanging onto my pot for dear life, trying to scale it to get to the feeder. OFF went one of the clips on the hanger, and then another! The pot spilled again! Mortimer ran away. I went outside to salvage was was really left of that poor plant. As I was walking the pot back up to the house, I noticed all of the chew marks on the plastic lip of the pot, and the bottom of the pot as well. He must think plastic is tasty, because that pot was chewed to hell. I don't know what to do with that little destructive furball. |

Beating Strong Another Doctor's appointment gone by. I got to hear the heart beat again, which was very strong and found quickly. My belly really is full of baby. I was worried I had gained back the weight that I lost and then some, but I have only added on two pounds. So, my Doctor is happy and saying keep up your boring pregnancy, with nothing bizarre or odd to report.
With weight gain they apparently have recently changed the suggested amount from 30lbs. to 20-25lbs. It is still quite a bit more that past's 15lbs. and the consequences of going over aren't really frightening. I was told that in the 50's they would put you on bed rest if you went over the 15lbs.
My next appointments will be August 19th and 20th. One of these will be really exciting because it will leave me with PICTURES! Just four more weeks and we should know the sex of the baby!
This whole experience is still so surreal. I can't quite grasp, this is happening to me. I haven't felt the baby move and other than looking like I had too large a lunch, I don't feel pregnant. But of course, there really is a little baby in there. |

Adirondacks and practice The trip to the Dacks this year was as always, amazing. So happy I went. Thank you Andy and your brother Steve for opening your camps to us and allowing us to be close to such a beautiful lake. Since I got pregnant I have not been drawing. I wanted back and this weekend away was perfect. Practice with depth Practice with watercolor I started this piece two years ago. I just did the sketch but, didn't have the nerve to jump into the watercolor part. This year I decided to stop being afraid of the fact that I do need more practice and just do it! These pieces aren't amazing. They are practice, studies that will only help me get better. So much time has passed since I sat down practiced, tried, or focused. Sometimes I think I give up before I even try and with watercolors, using watercolors in their simple yet very expressive way, I feel I have skipped giving myself the chance to learn that. I always make them my base and then draw on top of them with colored pencils or pens. I want to really learn watercolor so this is my start, my commitment to them. |

Discovery Channel - Robocars We are SO the redneck comic relief of the show, complete with our own theme music and everything. It's great! I thought they did a good job of keeping it interesting without going into too much technical detail. I can’t wait to see what they do for the next five episodes. I had a good amount of screen time, but no shots of the mustache yet. I had a beard up until the semifinals, so that should crop up in future episodes - probably around episode 3. |

I am a nerd. While it certainly wasn't the nerdiest thing I have ever done, waking up at 6am on Friday morning to get an iPhone 3G is up there. I got to the Chestnut Hill mall around 6:40am and was approximately 50-60 people deep in the line. The store was not opening until 8am, so I sat down on the floor, busted out my laptop, and caught up on my RSS feeds, etc. Quickly the line was twice as long, extending all the way out of the mall.. My "line buddies" were all pleasant and we were chatting the whole time. We had heard that the Apple Store had planned on moving 100 customers per hour through the store, so being 50 people deep I was expecting to be out of the store by 9pm at the latest. While we waited Apple had people going up and down the line giving out Coffee, Tea, and some kind of fancy (smart or vitamin) water, which I thought was a nice showing of appreciation of your psycho-fans.
The store opened at 8am and they let the first batch of about 25-30 people in. They easily had 30 employees working the store, so it seemed like everything would move along quickly. Unfortunately, as some of you are already aware, this was not the case. It was quickly apparent as 20-30 minutes passed with only a handful of customers leaving the store that things were taking longer than they estimated. Apparently both AT&T and Apple's servers were getting crushed. The server for the wireless handheld POS terminals the Apple employees use even crapped out at one point, although that was a quick reboot..
It was 9:40 before I got into the store, and all that meant was further standing in line. I finally was served around 10:15am, but it took forever to execute the transaction because of the network/server crush. Initially, after I finally paid, they took me to a station where they tethered the phone to a mac and tried to activate it with iTunes, but within the first minute the rep mentioned something about doing it at home and I jumped. I got out of the store at 10:40, and there were easily still 150+ plus people still waiting on line. Apparently soon after I left they stopped trying to activate the phones in the store at all, so perhaps the line started moving along quicker after that.
I got home and tried to activate, but it wasn't until after lunch that I had any luck.. Eventually, either Apple/AT&T fixed their problems or enough people gave up that I was able to activate.
All that said, I kind of expected these kinds of problems, so while it sucked, I was prepared for it to suck... I'm loving the phone so far, although it's going to take me awhile to become proficient at typing.. |
